American Eagle Wins Sydney Hobart 1972
Once Ted Turner converted American Eagle, an America's Cup competitor, into a proper ocean racer, he sailed her to to the Australian Seas to challenge the Sydney-Hobart Race.
Facing steep competition and shifting seas, Turner turned out tactic after tactic to give American Eagle any possible advantage including sailing through the spectators at the starting line for a better position and continuously chasing stronger breeze day-after-day.
